The "Himno a León" was composed by the musician Odón Alonso director of the Orfeón Leonés in 1934. The lyrics was written by J.Pinto Maestro. It was composed in order to conmemorate the V Centenary of the epic of El Paso Honroso
Since 1978 is the official anthem of the city of León, Spain , and it's oftenly used as the anthem of the province of León, Spain.
Sin León no hubiera España,

con clarines de victoria:

de Covadonga a Colón!

I read that especially in Spain or Italy, people are more loyal to their own region than to the nation and your "Anthem for Leon" reminds me of that idea of regionalism. Is it because that each region within Spain is very different and the geography creates a barrier of exchange between people of different provinces? Here in the United States, I think that there is some differences between people from different states. We have different accents, and people from one state might be more conservative than the people from another state. However, I think the sense of regionalism is much diminished in America. I think we see ourselves as Americans before Bostonians or Californians.
